Party Poker is offering a freeroll series called Summer Superstars. This freeroll series gives players at all playing levels a chance to win great prizes. The Summer Superstar series runs between July 2nd and August 19th. Players that earn just one Party Point during a day will qualify for the daily $1000 Bronze freeroll. The Winning Poker Network, consisting of online poker rooms such as Americas Cardroom and True Poker, is launching a new points race in July. This race is called The Beast.


Americas Cardroom and True Poker are changing how they operate their jackpot tables. Instead of tables that are dedicated solely to bad beat jackpots, part of the money will now goes towards this new Beast promotion. In the past, the jackpot rake went entirely to the bad beat jackpot. Now about half of the jackpot will go towards The Beast. Note that 10% of the jackpot drop goes to the house to cover administration fees.


There are two competitions for The Beast. One is a cash game race and the other is a race to award live tournament satellites. For the cash race, the top 20 places share either $30,000 or 13% of the total prize pool, whichever is less. At minimum, 500 players will be paid in the race. There is no cap on the number of players that will win in The Beast cash game race. It all depends on the amount of the total prize pool. The bigger the prize pool, the larger the prizes and the higher number of players that will win.


The points awarded will depend on the limit played. Players at lower limits will earn fewer points than higher limit players. The lowest limit that qualifies for The Beast is $.10/$.25. The base number of points is 6. Players at $.25/$.50 will earn 3% more points, $.50/$1 6% more, up to 17% more at limits $5/$10 and higher.


In addition to cash prizes, there will be a separate live tournament leaderboard. This leaderboard will give players tickets for satellites to live events such as the Punta Cana Poker Classic and Latin Series of Poker.


Players earn points based on the average contributed method. This method means that players must contribute something to the pot to earn points. Posting a blind and folding counts. Any player that contributes to the pot in any way will earn the same amount of points as players that contribute more or less. Players that fold without putting anything in the pot will not be awarded points.

The iPoker network announced last week that they have instituted a new policy that would split the network up into two groups effective September 1st. 


The poker rooms will be scored by iPoker based on the poker room's contribution to the network beginning July 1st, with the results implemented on September 1st.


So what does this mean for players?


The top tier of rooms would have access to all tables while the the lower tier would have a separate and much smaller group of players. The top tier poker rooms would have access to all tables. In essence, the sites in the bottom tier would have much fewer games to offer their players.


It is not known how many poker rooms these changes will affect. However, these new rules are believed to favor iPoker poker rooms that have sportsbooks. 


Large European poker rooms such as William Hill, Bet365 and Titan Poker are believed to be among those that would be in the top tier. In addition, Coral Poker -- which is moving to iPoker in August -- and Sun Poker should be on the safe list as well.

It is a good idea to research what is deducted from rakeback when comparing one offer to another.


U.S. Friendly Online Poker Rakeback Networks


Merge Gaming - Merge Gaming does not deduct anything from rakeback. Merge Gaming offered rakeback to players until June 1, 2011. On June 1, 2012, Merge Gaming once again started offering rakeback to new players. The Merge Gaming Network flagship is Carbon Poker. Black Chip Poker is another notable rakeback friendly Merge Gaming skin.


Revolution Gaming Network - Revolution Gaming Network does not deduct anything from rakeback. Lock Poker is the flagship of the Revolution Gaming Network. Other rakeback skins on the Revolution Gaming Network include Cake Poker, Intertops, Broadway Tables, and Red Star Poker.

The High Roller Event has rescheduled for June 3rd at 3pm ET on Party Poker and WPT Poker. The original tournament failed to launch in the poker software due to a technical malfunction. The event features a $4000 prize pool. All players that were eligible for the original event will receive an email that will include instructions on now to register for the new tournament.
