Merge Gaming to End Bad Beat Jackpot
Merge Gaming to End Bad Beat Jackpot
8/24/2012
The Merge Gaming Network, currently the 2nd largest site to accept players from the United States, is removing their popular Bad Beat Jackpot tables after the next jackpot is hit, which currently stands at over $300,000.
The removal of Bad Beat Jackpot tables is nothing new for online poker rooms. Party Poker removed their Bad Beat Jackpot tables earlier this year, while many other networks such as Ongame and iPoker have shied away from offering the tables over the years.
The games are generally not seen as being a positive influence to the poker ecology of a network. While the extra rake is taken from every player that sits down at these tables, only a select few are ever lucky enough to receive a return from the tables. Quite often a big winner will merely withdraw their funds from the site, with the funds never to be introduced into the "poker economy" again.
Many fans of the Bad Beat Jackpot tables will undoubtedly not be pleased with the change; however, most observers believe that the change is the in the best interest of players long term.
Players can continue to receive 35% rakeback and access to $100,000 in monthly races when signing up at poker rooms such as Carbon Poker through rakeback.diguk.com.
If you still crave a Bad Beat Jackpot table, we recommend taking a look at the Bad Beat Jackpots available at Poker Heaven or Americas Cardroom for U.S. players.
